This one has been sitting in my folio for awhile now, I've been meaning to get to it and finally have found the chance to do so. Going back to the old pic I still have up in my folio(feel free to check, I'll keep it up for a bit longer) makes me feel like hurling...blah, you live and you learn....

As for the idea behind the pic- One day I thought to myself while reading a book on old world freak shows, if mermaids ever did exist, we, being the vile creatures that we are, would have hunted them down to extinction swiftly...

Obviously I exaggerated the anatomy here, with the barrel chest and the hands being so large, but still I attempted to make them convincing.

Felt like it was time for a little bit of B&W, focus more on the form, light. As for application, mostly I was inspired by some Baroque paintings I was studying when I first started this, I really wanted to push the feeling of drama and all that razmataz.

Anyhow, please do leave comments and crits if you have the time, they are appreciated.
